The SNOWCLEARED Team is a fantastic crew! They are hard working, efficient, go the extra mile, and have wicked sense of humour. We thought we’d begin to introduce you to the faces behind the business. Who makes this team run? First up? Our fearless Operations and Contract Manager, Brynn Kennedy.

Read along as we took a few minutes to ask Brynn some questions!

How did you first hear about SNOWCLEARED?

I went to high school with Rob and he's been a close friend of my brothers for many years, so I'd hear of his latest ventures through mutual friends or from social media.

When did you join the team?

I've been working with SNOWCLEARED for two years now. It started as a part time venture and has morphed into a full time gig.

What are you responsible for?

I handle the operational side of the business as well as manage all the company contracts. My role is somewhat hard to define as my duties are pretty extensive. They include interacting with clients, training and overseeing our team, managing contracts, creating service routes and systems, some dispatch,  and handling everything that goes with accounts payable and receivables. I am a very structured, organized person (formally a teacher and bookkeeper) so naturally when I got involved with the business two years ago, I had a lot of fun revamping the company's systems and how we do things from an administrative standpoint.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the management part of the job. I love working with people, developing good systems and pushing the business to be the best it can be. It is never boring and there is always room for improvement. The challenges are endless. It's also great to work with someone like Rob who recognizes my abilities and trusts me to take on high pressure duties. We also laugh a lot. That's important.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

By far the biggest challenge of my job is having four little ones at home and being so involved in helping run a business. I never imagined I would be working to the extent I do with such small kids, (4 year old triplets and a soon to be 2 year old), but ultimately it is a choice I have made with my husband that we feel benefits my family. I work lots of late nights, evenings, weekends, and nap times. Many times after working a long day, my incredible husband takes on the childcare so I can work. It is a sacrifice we both make, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives and create opportunities for our kids and family.

What is one piece of advice you would give to the folks in the market for snow and deicing services?

DO NOT WAIT FOR A BLIZZARD. There are so many businesses that put off signing a snow and ice contract before the storm and then find themselves in very difficult straights when the storm comes in. Last week, during our extensive snowfall we received many many inquiries for quotes and emergency service from business' we don't have contracts with. Unfortunately for these people, in the midst of the storm our priorities are to our clients and servicing them around the clock to ensure their sites are safe.

Don't procrastinate! We see lots of clients setting up contracts in August or September, which is a great time to secure a spot in the SNOWCLEARED rotation the coming winter! Heck, if you email us in the summer for a quote we'd be thrilled!

Says Rob, “Brynn is a boss! She’s a central part of our team and keeps us all functioning in even the biggest snow storms…they don’t build ‘em tough like this anymore. I’m not sure anyone can out compete her. We are grateful for team members like Brynn who make SNOWCLEARED the organization it is today!”

Thank you for all you contribute to the team, Brynn! Stay tuned for our next feature…
